• Prepare to become Content in Your Upward Call of God

As I come into growing from my ministry I have learned that growing into my ministry as a content Visionary Ministry Maker was not for anyone else except me to learn.

When God called me to start teaching life skills workshops my life skills were lacking in significant ways including contentment in my menial tasks as well as my hard tasks.

I started teaching things that I had learned about myself in the first couple of year of my salvation. Then I was hit with great loss and great agony that took me out.

The loss created the agony and it bled all over the rest of my life.

I defined myself by my work, but it was getting me no where fast. I was still being laid off at the drop of a hat, and I couldn’t keep a job for the life of me.

That is difficult for the person who defines themselves from how hard they work and what they know about the work.

The automotive is so fickle that it created an environment of constant lay offs for me and contractual work rather than a steady fulfilling job.

So, when my ministry started I thought it would fill the gap that my design jobs left behind. Only a task driven person would think that so that is what I thought.

This gap that I had concocted in my head, should not have existed because my design work should not have defined me. My work should not define me in any capacity.

I will never be content in my work if I define myself by it.

Our ministries are God’s ministries not ours. They define Him not us!

We do not own them and they are not given to us to define us. They are given to us to grow us into the Visionary and Commissary Leader the Lord wants us to be, as we draw people closer to Him.

He chose me to lead this ministry and I only have to prove to Him how prepared I am as He guides me too it and through it.

My Visionary Living Advice 💦 is when you begin to feel like you have to prove yourself to someone with your works, remember and repeat, “I am already worthy, therefore I have nothing to prove.”

Join me in Midlife Ministry Makers to discuss how to open our eyes to contentment while we work knowing that every work we do for you is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).

  • An Opening that is Divine

I have spend many years clarifying the Upward Call of God on my life. I learned it takes many calls on my life to equal my Visionary Ministry.

Am I supposed to do this? Am I supposed to do that? What am I supposed to do because nothing seems to be working? No one seems to care about this call on my life…

But I have to tell you that I would never have known what to do if I didn’t keep obeying. This month we are going to talk about how the Lord opens our eyes to the hope of His call as we fall under His divine direction climbing up the Ministry Mountain.

    The Opening

Realizing that many calls equal my Visionary Ministry was the divine opening of my eyes to the hope even though I was missing the end result, the women I serve and the permission from people to go.

I was thinking that permission from people was the actual YES that I needed but it was deeper than that. It was me putting pressure on them by saying to myself, “they don’t appreciate me!”

Their eyes do not have to be opened to the hope of my Upward Call of God today for me to chase it.

It is your eyes that need to be opened. Your Upward Call of God is filled with hope for YOU and it will fill your life with more hope as you commit to chasing it even if they don’t appreciate it.

    The Hope in Your Call

The hope of your call is for you alone to enjoy. It is rare that you will see your whole calling from God in a vision or dream or even that He sends you someone who should care as much as you do.

The expectation that everyone should care about your Upward Call of God as much as you do is the beginning of the loss of your hope. No one should care about your call as much as you should.

    NO ONE!

    The Jesus Affect

Jesus is the One who opens the eyes of your heart to be content with your call alone, consider your listeners and to keep talking about it until you gain a full understanding of what you are called to do TODAY.

Jesus is going to train you to cares just as much as He does, if not more, about the accomplishment of your vision.

Ephesians 1:18-19 calls us to take a look at how deeply affected we are by our Upward Call of God. We care so much about it that we want everyone to care about it equally.

We want our listeners to be changed by it, so we keep talking about it over, and over, and over again until our eyes are closed because of our tremendous human expectations for our self and others.

Let’s talk this month about how to keep the eyes of your heart opened to see the hope of God’s Upward Call on your life in Midlife Ministry Makers.

  • Say who You are in the Church

The power of community is “their” corporate Vision of God coupled with “your” personal vision. Have you ever been part of a rally, or a protest, or a search where all the people have one goal, one focus, one vision? To fight, find or facilitate a common solution.

You can feel the energy rising every minute you are among them. You later return home still pumped from the experience of this joint vision.

Now imagine if that was happening in the Christian Church. If everyone had one goal, one focus, one dream? And imagine if your Upward Call of God fell in line with theirs?

Wouldn’t that make your feel safe, accepted, loved, hopeful and free to do what God has called you to do along with them as your support, your encouragement, your inspiration.

    It meets Your Approval

The Affect that Jesus has on your Lifistry will move you toward this cause, this Church. this conclusion – a combined vision with one focus – advancing the Kingdom of God.

When I first came into the Church, I was unaware of my Kingdom Works or my Kingdom Cause. I knew what I did not want to do, but I had no idea what I was called to do.

The things that I was called to do happened to be outside of the Church building more often than inside, but a couple of churches had allowed me to bring them into the building.

Today, I am so grateful for the air time because I was able to practice my craft with Christians and get it more focused into what it is today. My Upward Call of God meets my approval and yours should meet yours.

    Embrace Your Call

Once my call met my approval it then becomes about embracing it 24/7 which was harder to do. Embracing God’s will for me in Church community was hard fought at first (15 whole years) because I expected them to embrace my call inside the Church. I knew all along that it would be performed outside the church building, but I felt like I needed them to need me before I could feel free to embrace my calling.

The Lord has been giving the Church divine direction throughout their Christian Lifistry yet our longing to bring our own particular Upward Call into community, without His approval, is stunting our growth into our own ministry.

Our Spiritual growth might coincide with your Church’s vision but our Kingdom Cause (Visionary Ministry) may not. There are plenty of Visionary Ministries born outside the church building (Red Cross, Proverbs 31 Ministry, Living Proof Live just to name a few).

Embracing your call, inside or outside, of the church building is the difference between freedom and oppression. For us to feel safe, accepted, loved then hopeful and free to actively accomplish what God has called us to do, we have to embrace where our call will be released.

My goal for you is the same as the Lord’s goal for you – to accept and embrace your Upward Call of God, easier today than yesterday, through practising and more practising and advanced practising it until it becomes what God has already created it to be.

My Visionary Living Advice 💦 for this week is to go into your community, secure in the your Upward Call of God, and secure in where He is going to release it (inside or outside of the building) knowing that a full life is waiting for you in it.

  • The Queen AND the Vagabond

There is a gamut of ways people will treat you no matter what you say or do. To land in the AND is to be emotionally healthy in your community.

    The Queen

I don’t really know what this one is like but I am sure some of you do. You are treated like a queen in some of your circles.

When you walk in the room, everyone stops talking to pay close attention to what you are going to say or do. They don’t physically bow but they have done it emotionally.

You have and take authority over what is happening and how it is happening. Queens can be bullies, in this hierarchy of treatment, or they can be generous. It all depends on how they want people to treat them.

    The Vagabond

This one I know well. I am ignored by my sisters and my feelings are ignored by my parents. I am the vagabond in my family and some social circles.

You might know this feeling too. You attend events and no one sits with you. You go to help work and they put you alone in your work.

You can hear others having fun but you are never included. Vagabonds can choose to draw away from Church family or they can remain to be God’s servant. It all depends on how they want people to treat them.

    AND

This is really where I lie in the gap between queen and vagabond — AND. I don’t ever remember being treated as queen but know what it look like to be treated as a vagabond.

I am not treated like a queen in any of my social circles. No one has so much respect for me that they are not afraid to tell me I am wrong or to stop me in my tracks with a word.

I am sure there are plenty of people who will have nothing to do with me because of who I am but mostly it is in my own imagination that I am a vagabond.

I don’t have a slew of close friends who are at my side all the time. I don’t have a best friend. I don’t have a group of women I go out for coffee with monthly. I could make this happen but I don’t for fear of being hurt again.

I am safe. I am accepting. I am honest. I am a staunch Jesus follower. I have things I definitely need to work on. I am an emotionally healthy Christian. I am effective in my ministry. I am in love with life.

    AND…

I am intimidating. I am devoted to the truth about me and you. I am steadfast when I set my mind to something. I am brash sometimes. I am loud sometimes. I am right sometimes. My mind is my own. I am convicted all the time. I am repentant to the Lord and you. I am not dumb or easily deceived.

I want people to treat me like an “AND” but sometimes they will treat me like a Vagabond because I don’t treat them like a “Queen”. When my ministry is in full swing, I am sure women will treat me like a queen until they get to know me better.

My Visionary Living Advice 💦 for this week is to be comfortable being treated as a queen and as a vagabond but set your face to be treated like an “AND” every where you go.

  • Who is Me?

Who can tell me who I am? Only Jesus. Only you.

How often have you been told to be like Christ or to be Christ-like? Or even told to be like someone else?

Sermon after sermon has been preached on the character of Christ. But there has been few sermons telling us how to actually get that done or even where to get started.

This week we are going to get started by answering our question of identity in the church.

Who does Jesus say we are so we can bring that woman into the church and start sharpening her into a “Woman of Vision” for the Church?

    Who am I?

This happens to be the most asked question by Christians and by secular folk. It mainly refers to what we are going to do to give us significance in the world. We want to feel valued in the church and in the world.

I have asked this question of Jesus for years because I seem to be changing every single day. Is that appropriate to have happen?

Yes it is, for all of us. Asking this question is not a sin, nor does it mean we are confused about our identity. We are committing our identity to how valued we are.

What it means is that we are in the process of figuring out this new woman in Christ today so we can be confident in her ability to thrive tomorrow.

    Tomorrow’s Me

The Woman of Vision knows that tomorrow brings a new person, a new task, a new thrill for ministry, a new task to accomplish on our climb up the Ministry Mountain.

Tomorrow’s me will not look like today’s me if I am being conformed into the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:29).

Only look back at the “Yesterday You” for proof of growth, grace and God’s transforming work in your life. Work today to prepare for tomorrows transformation.

My Visionary Living Advice 💦 for you this week is to daily prepare by accepting Yesterday You, devising today’s target and embracing tomorrow’s transformation.

This week in Midlife Ministry Makers we are going to do a deep dive for divine direction into Biblical Power Tool #174. You can watch the excerpt here.

  • God is Sending you!

Sometimes the first hump we have to get over, in our climb up the Ministry Mountain, is our relationship with the Church. Satan has held some pretty mountainous ground in this area for centuries and it is time that we start taking it back for the sake of our ministry.

    Seeds of Fire

Verbs are action words that move us to do something, yet one thing I am sure that a ton of us do not understand is that we learn more when we take action.

As I am writing this I am learning another life changing lesson from the Lord about what I say. I want to hide myself away because I speak words, from my feelings, and say something that I should not have said. I took action to say them and I need to take action to make amends for them.

There is a lot we don’t know about ourselves and the Lord. Why He puts people in our path? Why He does what He does? But we do not have to remain ignorant or guess.

If you don’t know what God has call you to do — DO something and He will guide you.

If you don’t know the Bible — READ the Bible and you will know what the Bible has to say.

If you don’t have any Christian friends – MAKE some Christian friends and you will have some.

In the Invisible Christ Effect we talked about planting seeds that spread like wildfire. Fire cannot happen unless we plant our feet in the soil held by Satan for centuries – our churches.

    Healing Church Hurt

The seeds (your giftings) planted in Women of Vision by God, are meant for preaching the good news, teaching the Bible, leading ministries, healing the sick and so much more. The only limit on our gifts is the Lord.

I know that others have stood on your seeds and caused them to die, or squelched your leadership zeal, or caused you to avoid church communities all together.

I know that you have learned to cope with being alone, to lead your ministry outside those church buildings or resign yourself to never taking on a leadership role again.

I know that you feel inadequate or disqualified by your lack of successes in any of your ministry leadership roles or your unrecognized work or even how you have treated others as a result of your own bitterness.

God is calling you to infiltrate the church again with your skills, your zeal, your steadfastness, your ideas, your love of Jesus, your love for the saints and even return to a leadership role.

Plant the Seeds in Christian Community

When we continue standing on our seeds, they will never sprout and we will never take back the ground Satan holds in our Lifistry (Personal Life Stewardship/Ministry Life Stewardship).

Satan wants you to hate, dislike, feel shame, be held back, squander your gifts, avoid people, be ignorant about the saints, be scared of the saints, avoid preaching, teaching and leading, and any other brick (selfish ambition) he has put in your pathway to your ministry.

The time has come for Women of Vision to infiltrate Satan’s ground and bring about transformation that frees Christians to unite men, women and children for the spreading of the Gospel in every capacity.

My Visionary Living Advice 💦 for you this month is to get on your knees before the Lord, repent and resolve to do what He has asked you to do in your community even if it hurts.

You will discover that there is healing included in the action plan God has for you.

There is love in the “capital c” Church that you are missing because you have avoided a relationship with the Church folk. Go and be free to love and be loved in your Church community because it is there that you will learn the most important truth of all – God is sending you!

  • The Breaking of Walls

Have you ever pushed your way through a blinding bush to find, on the other side, a breathtaking view?

That is what it is like to push your way through the brick wall that holds you back from accomplishing your directive of growing into your ministry. It can be hard, changing our mind about our authority to do it, but on the other side of it is a breathtaking hope for life on this earth.

The one thing that is imperative and I want for “Women of Vision” is to push through that brick wall standing between you and your “Upward Call of God” to grow into the ministry you where born for.

    Unanswered Questions form the Bricks

From the time I realized I was called until now the one thing (not the only thing) that has hovered over me, and been repeatedly voiced to me is that my ministry does not have church backing therefore it cannot exist.

This wall erected by other first, than reinforced by me (unwittingly) over the years, has been my wall to break down over the past 5 years as I grow my Marketplace Ministry.

For some reason, in my ignorance, I didn’t question it. AND I was never able to get church backing either. Every single time I attempted to grow my ministry under the umbrella of an established church, it was removed by someone who was threatened by it or did not care much about its work.

Break the Wall DOWN one Brick at a Time

You have a wall and it just may be that you don’t think you have the gift of leadership, or you don’t know your talents and skills can be repurposed into the Kingdom. Or maybe it is because you have not spent time enough with the Lord to garner His strength to fight for what is already yours.

He has called you into His Kingdom to encourage and equip it. He has allowed this wall for you to gain the strength to tear it down as you build up your ministry.

Not all at once, but one brick at a time. (I can hear the sigh)

One false directive at a time.

    One intimidation at a time.

One scare tactic at a time.

Don’t be scared or weary of it, because every brick has its own strength and with it a forgiveness for both you and your adversary. The Lord is going to be with you to equip and empower you with each brick you disassemble and each person you forgive for installing that brick.

Start your journey with the Lead or Bust Workshop. Take one question off the table. “Am I really called to lead?”

Once that is off the table all bets are off. Go break down that wall, one brick at a time!!!!!

It’s about time to live your vision your way with Kathleen Derbyshire, the Visionary Living Advisor. She equips and empowers Women of Vision called into ministry, who are brave enough to heed the call of God for their life to equip and empower others.

  • Everything is Appropriate for its Season

Have you ever been stuck in a season, for what amounts to way to long. A season of dread, or growth, or sorrow, or intense joy, or expectation, or grief?

We have all been there. I tend to get stuck in the pruning season more often than any other up until today. There are seasons of our life that seem to go on for ever and some that don’t last long enough.

If you are anything like me you have not been obedient during some of these seasons because you know this to be true in your own life.

The Lord is asking me to do something right now that I am reluctant to do because every time I get into something I totally enjoy, for some reason it comes to an end sooner than I expect or want. Then I go through a long period of time learning and waiting again for that next thing.

For the length of time it takes to prepare for the thing He is asking me to do, and the short length of time He allows it to commence, makes it hard for me to put any effort into it.

What I need to keep in mind, always, is that the little things are what gets me ready for the big things. They teach me specific things that I apply into the larger drawn out things.

He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, without the possibility that mankind will find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end.

    Ecclesiastes 3:11

Although I have not had anything alive for a drawn out period of time yet, I know something is coming. I am getting ready for the harvest.

My Visionary Living Advise 💦 for you this week is to allow Jesus to get you through your current season by allowing Him to guide you into your vision from Him.

Lord, teach me to be OK with the planting season, the plucking season and the pruning season. Help me to still be in awe of You when each of them comes to an end. In Your mighty Name I pray this Lord, amen.

Join me this week in Midlife Ministry Makers to discuss the three seasons (Planting, Plucking and Pruning) Woman of Vision tend to go through and how to survive them.

  • Moulded by Fire

It is not about just knowing who you are in Christ or boldly being who you are in Christ but also your ability to overcome the life challenges that will mould you into the Woman of Vision you are.

    The World is Watching

There has been so much controversy over women in ministry that every move Woman of Vision make is placed under a microscope. This microscope reveals our character whether they like our character or not.

Whether we like our character or not…

But doesn’t that spur you on to make sure that you take the seeds the Lord is planting in you and set them on fire for Him before you plant them into another?

    Jesus is Watching

Of course, Jesus knows that you will spew, vomit and spit out some seeds that are ineffective for the saints but He wants you to keep planting them so they can be improved every time you release them.

The only bad seed is the seed that never sees the light of day to grow the ground it lands on. Even our bad seeds are meant to grow something.

    Growing through Fire

Some seeds fly out of us without us having much control over whether they have been sifted through the Bible or not. This happens when we don’t read the Bible or know the commandments of God.

Some seeds fly on fire because we know who we are in Christ and we are boldly walking out who we are in Christ. This happens because we read the Bible and set our face on being like Christ.

Some seeds never leave us nor ever grow in us. Some we buried in infertile ground. This is because we never intend to be or do what Christ has made us live for.

Don’t be offended, be convicted if this is you.

For whatever reason someone would choose not to do the most exciting thing they will ever do in their life that will set them on fire for the Lord and their vision.

Our job as Women of Vision is to plant seeds around that reflect the fire inside us to live our vision as highly effective Christians.

My Visionary Living Advice 💦 for you this week is to avoid being the 2 Timothy 3 woman and adopt the zeal of the Proverbs 31 woman to have effective Personal Life Stewardship and Ministry Life Stewardship without disobeying the Lord.

Join us this week in Midlife Ministry Makers for A Soul on Fire to discuss how you are able to change the way you think about overcoming adversity so you can always leave an example of freedom as a seed.

  • Seeds Unseen

When I was first saved I had no filter which also means I said what came to my mind without thinking about the effect it would have

Over the last 20 years the Lord has been preparing me to take up the reigns of my ministry with a filter called Kathleen. My name is Kathleen Victoria. Kathleen means PURE and Victoria means VICTORY. Together they mean PURE VICTORY.

    PURE VICTORY from the Fire

The moment I got saved was the moment the fire came. The Lord needed to purify me from Vicky and make me into Kathleen.

For some He holds the fire at a distance and for some He of us He holds it under our feet. I was held to the fire right away and made to right the wrongs of Vicky.

Who I am today was hidden in those wrongs somewhere. I had no idea how much fire it was going to take to release Kathleen and even today she is not fully released in the power of God.

    The Seeds before Me

What I learned from inside the fire was the old me was dying and the Lord was releasing seeds of ME in Him to those around me.

I could not see these seeds with my naked eye but as I grew in my faith the Lord began to show me the seeds. I was talking with a woman I admired when she told me how powerful my ministry was.

To my chagrin, I had just been sitting in my secret place with Jesus, complaining to the Lord about not being released. This woman had not realized that she had been sent to me to teach me that He was releasing my ministry without physically releasing me.

    The Seeds before You

While the Lord is sifting the world out of you, He is releasing the seeds of your ministry before you. He is purifying you in the fire which separates the chaff from the wheat.

Chaff fertilizes the ground under you to create more fire inside you. It sets your soul on fire to be you. When someone is called, by God, to encourage, empower and embrace your calling, He is showing you the seeds He has sent out before you.

My Visionary Living Advice 💦 for you this week is to listen to those whom God has called to encourage you more than those who the Devil has sent to discourage you.

Join me this week in Midlife Ministry Makers for “The Fire’s Afoot” to walk through how exactly to accomplish this Visionary Living Advice
